THE TRAVELLING DOT- AFTER SCHOOL ART (AGES 7-12)

Building Confidence and Connection Through Visual Art!

The Travelling Dot: An 8-Week Journey in Creative ExpressionInspired by Paul Klee’s quote “A line is a dot that went for a walk,” this unique program uses the imaginative journey of “The Travelling Dot” to guide participants through a transformative experience in visual art, writing, and performance.

Program Overview:Over eight weeks, participants will explore their identities, build self-esteem, and celebrate inclusivity and mental well-being through creative self-expression. Using “The Travelling Dot” as the central character, each session will combine artistic exploration with personal storytelling, culminating in tangible artworks and a final presentation.

Core Components:

🎨 Visual Art Participants will:

  • Explore foundational techniques like blind contour line drawing
  • Experiment with texture, color, and shape to create vibrant, meaningful designs
  • Produce hands-on creations including personalized face masks and dandiyas (decorated dowels)

✍️ Written Expression Through guided storytelling, participants will:

  • Create a simple pop-up storybook featuring “The Travelling Dot”
  • Reflect on their own strengths and challenges
  • Use words and simple sentences to tell their unique personal narratives

🎭 Presentation & Performance To build confidence and pride in their creations, participants will have the option to:

  • Participate in a group movement piece using their art as props
  • Or take part in a “Show & Tell” to present their artwork and stories
