FOR AGES 0-17 MONTHS

Baby Song and Bounce explores, instruments, rhythm, movement, guitar sing-a-long, and object play (balls, scarves, bubbles, etc.) which nurture development and spark curiosity.  It provides caregivers the opportunity to bond with their little ones and socialize with others in a friendly and relaxed environment.  The music used throughout the class spans a spectrum, of global, folk, traditional and popular music. Christina is a certified Kindermusik teacher, theatre educator and Mama!

A week on the Algonquin theatre stage that includes drama games and exercises, songs, crafts and costumes. Campers will also take a back stage tour of the theatre and learn about the different components of theatre, lights, sound, sets costumes etc. Through out the week we will work toward a presentation on the big stage.

This program for ages 4-6 offers an introduction to the basic elements of performing for an audience. Confidence and creative expression are developed through drama games, character building, costume play, and collaboration in the lead up to a short original performance . Under the mentorship of professional and experienced artists, participants will discover the power of their own voice, gain confidence, and make new friends.

EXPLORE THE WORLD OF SCULPTURE!

Create a unique and fun papier-mâché animal wall sculpture. In this session we will look at 3-D form and build our favourite animal head , cover with papier-mâché and add colour with acrylic paints. We will also have fun making animal pinch pots with air dry clay. Come join us for some messy fun!

DANCE IT, PRINT IT!

In the morning, campers will warm up, learn basic dance moves, and explore creative self-expression with Jillian Peever from The Space Upstairs.  No formal dance training is necessary- if your kid likes to move and explore, this is the place to be! In the afternoon, Dawn Huddlestone will lead a workshop in collagraph printmaking, creating textured prints using a variety of materials to design their own unique artworks. This workshop blends the rhythm of dance with the hands-on creativity of printmaking, offering an exciting way to express both body and art!

JOIN US FOR A WHIMSICAL ADVENTURE AT HfA’S PA DAY CAMP DESIGNED FOR CHILDREN AGES 7-12!

This fun-filled day is packed with creativity! In the morning, Christina Serra will lead engaging drama games and exercises where kids will explore outer space, aliens, rocket ships, and more—perfect for both budding performers and those who enjoy being part of a group. In the afternoon, Pam Carnochan will guide kids through the process of creating beautiful felt art using wool from her own sheep. Every child will leave with their very own woolen masterpiece!

It’s going to be a day of fun, learning, and artistic expression!

CHANTONS, DANSONS!

Designed for kids in grades 1-3 who are in French Immersion or Core French programs, this exciting program offers a unique opportunity to practice and improve French language skills through the joy of music and movement! During the workshop, we will blend French and English instruction, making it accessible and engaging for all levels. Children will learn and sing lively French songs, and enjoy simple french folk dances. It’s a perfect way for young learners to immerse themselves in the language while having a fantastic time.

A partnership program between the Huntsville Festival of the Arts, Algonquin Theatre and the Town of Huntsville designed for local elementary and secondary school students.

Take your class on an exciting journey through the heart of a real working theatre. This one-hour workshop is designed with educators in mind, and it’s packed with valuable insights to share with your students.

First, we’ll unveil the hidden world behind the curtains, taking you backstage to explore the theatre’s inner workings. Discover the lighting booth, where you’ll gain a deeper understanding of how lighting effects set the mood on stage. Explore the sound equipment that ensures every word is heard loud and clear. And, of course, don’t miss the backstage area where the magic truly happens.

Following the backstage tour, your students have the opportunity to participate in a drama workshop right on the Algonquin Theatre stage. Students will be guided by a local professional artist who will share valuable techniques and insights, equipping you and your students with tools to make your drama classes even more exciting and engaging.

This isn’t just a workshop; it’s an opportunity for teachers to share the thrill of the stage with their students, and learn new skills that can be taken back to the classroom.
