Are you a local performing artist interested in busking around Downtown Huntsville? The Huntsville Festival of the Arts is looking to host local artists on the Huntsville Town docks Saturdays and Sundays in July from 12pm-5pm, starting Saturday July 10th. HfA invites submissions for solos, duos, and other small and portable acts and will provide a basic sound system, tent & plexiglass screen. A tip jar will be made available for any buskers looking to accept donations. 

If you are interested, contact Executive Director Dan Watson at dan@huntsvillefestival.ca with your name, contact information, and a brief description of your act. HfA are looking for solos, duos, and other small and portable acts. 

The health and safety of our audience and community is HfA’s priority amid the global COVID-19 pandemic. Planning and procedures will be informed by recommendations from the Ontario Government and the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit. 

The Huntsville Festival of the Arts is currently accepting applications for the position of Sales & Marketing Manager

The Sales & Marketing Manager will work alongside the Executive Director to increase revenues and profile of the Huntsville Festival of the Arts. This includes the developing and implementing its corporate/individual fundraising program, increasing sales of memberships and tickets, and assisting with the annual May March fundraiser.

We’re thrilled to be working on this project and pleased to announce our Group of Seven Canoe Murals painted by Gerry Lantaigne will be part of the auction!

Paddle blanks available online and at Algonquin Outfitters stores for $29.98+tx. You can paint, carve or use any other creative method to create your one-of-a-kind paddle art.

CONTEST SUBMISSIONS BY AUGUST 31ST, 2021

All contest entries must be received no later than August 31st, 2021.
Mail or drop off your paddles to Algonquin Outfitters,

ONLINE CHARITY AUCTION- SEPT 13TH TO SEPT 27TH, 2021
You can bid on paddles entered in the contest online from Sept 13th until Sept 27th, 2021 at www.algonquinoutfitters.com. Highest auction bids will determine the winners in our contest.

BE PART OF THE BLACK WHOLE CELEBRATION!

We’re planning a big finale for The Black Whole: Quarantine Reunion Concert, and we need your help!  You’ve probably seen some of the videos of songs on social media sung by people who are separated. WE WANT TO DO ONE! We’re asking people to record a video of themselves singing the song The Weight. As you may remember, this was a song that closed many Black Whole Cabarets, often times sung by the teachers.

So here’s what we need you to do:

1. Download the backing track HERE
2. Use the lyrics below or HERE
3. Film yourself singing the song and harmonies (if you want)
4. Make sure to film in LANDSCAPE not portrait (ie the wide one)
5. Sing with the song playing on headphones so we can hear your voice
6. IMPORTANT! There are 3 clicks at the beginning of the song. We need you to clap your hands to the last two clicks so that we can sink up the video.
6. Send the video by email, google drive, google photos, dropbox to dan@huntsvillefestival.ca
7. Deadline is Thursday May 7 at 8pm

Jeremy Munce will be cutting the video together. It’s going to be awesome!

In this short video, artist Helena Renwick offers a demonstration of a fun and easy drawing exercise for kids age 6 and up. All you need is paper, a pencil and your imagination 🙂

This video is part of HfA ART BREAKS. To help supports kids and their families, HfA is offering a slate of easy and fun online arts based activities while we all practice social distancing. These include FREE video demonstrations, livestream performances and online gatherings facilitated by local artists. The program offers kids a creative outlet while at home and can give parents & caregivers a little break to take care of themselves.

The Event Coordinator will work at the HfA Studio in Downtown Huntsville, as well as on site for various events. They will work in tandem with the Executive Director, and other contracted staff to help lead arts based activities that offer artistic opportunities and engage citizens of and visitors to Huntsville and the region of Parry Sound/Muskoka.

The young worker will have the opportunity to hone their practical skills; work alongside experienced professionals; help facilitate on site artistic activities and events with diverse community members; help support a location experiencing high summer and seasonal population growth; take an active role in a growing cultural tourism sector in the region; and take pride at their contributions to a summer festival for which have been vital part in producing.

This position is made possible through the Federal Government’s Canada Summer Jobs Program. The successful applicant must be
(a) be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
(b) a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*; and
(c) legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations. *International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.

The successful candidate must also be available to work some evenings and weekends.
